I’ve seen people compare it to the Phoenix Zoo—yes, it’s smaller, but it is absolutely worth the drive and the price. The exhibits are well-maintained, clean, and thoughtfully designed, and the animals were actually up and moving rather than sleeping all day like at some other zoos. They also have a large playground for kids, which makes it even more family-friendly. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and overall the experience felt well-organized and enjoyable from start to finish. My kids and I visit Reid Park Zoo at the beginning of every year as a little New Years tradition. I've been coming to the zoo all of my life and every time I seem to take in something new. The zoo is full of animals, from goats to zebras to bears and more. Our favorites this year were: The African Wild Dogs, which had playful spirits, long legs, beautiful coats, and ran together in interesting little patterns. The Tiny Monkeys, which there are more of since last year, and they all seem to be really playful and keep each other great company, and are colorful and adorable. The Elephants, which we had a closer view to than ever before, as the Elephants were in a mud ditch playing up close to the gate, and the baby made an appearance, chowing on a stick with a few adults. And it's well laid out so you don't miss anything or have to backtrack. The Lego special exhibit is pretty awesome as well. We were impressed with how affordable the memberships were, particularly for individuals or couples. A 1-year membership for an individual (adult) is $40, and to add another individual is only $20. Even more, to add a guest pass is only $15/year: meaning a couple could have a year pass and a guest pass to bring 1 friend along whenever they go for only $75/year. What an amazing deal! Read More
