Then I got this completely unexpected card in the mail. Every person who helped with Rex said something on this card and mentioned him by name. Dr. Metos even mentioned Mouse, the first boy I ever lost. That means so much to me because she never even met Mouse. I only talked about him. Our 13 y/o pug was recently hospitalized with severe pancreatitis and was diagnosed diabetic. West Vet was good overall as far as the hospitalization, but they're emergency vets and the bedside manner is a bit abrupt, not to mention that they are really far from South Nampa. Anyway, I didn't feel like West Vet properly prepared us for how to deal with the issue due to a lack of quality time they have to offer and we have been to several vets nearby who either weren't really competent dealing with the breed or who just weren't very nice and had super rude staff (I won't name names.) I accidentally happened onto their office just driving through the parking lot and I got curious. It turns out that rosemary is a known neurotoxin for dogs, but it is used as a natural preservative in a lot of pet food and treats. Both the Royal Canin food and Canada Fresh chicken jerky we were feeding our Chihuahua had rosemary extract in them. We switched to a homemade diet and the seizures stopped. Dr. Metos and her staff are knowledgeable, compassionate and accommodating and I wouldn’t trust anyone but them to take care of my kiddos. Not to mention they are the most reasonably priced exotic vet... Not to mention they are the most reasonably priced exotic vet in the area! They will never give unnecessary treatment for the sake of profit and will always try to save you money wherever possible. The clinic is clean and cozy and when you walk in the friendly front desk staff will greet you with a smile and they always have a room ready to go right away. Dr. Metos has an incredible amount of knowledge and experience with pretty much any animal you can think of and will always answer my questions with clarity. She is incredibly kind and good at soothing anxious pet parents. The vet techs are the sweetest humans and run that place like the marines! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!!!
