I purchased a couch from room and board in a non in-stock fabric that took a few months to be delivered (this was expected). The delivery was seamless, on time, and inexpensive (I believe it was like $150 for an almost $5000 purchase). Immediately upon receiving the couch I realized the color was just not right for my space, despite having seen samples in person - but I decided to sit with it for a while to see if it grew on me. It did not. A month or so later I reached out to customer service to see if there was anything I could do to exchange the couch for another color, and to my surprise they said yes! I went in a few times to look at fabric samples and finally made a decision maybe a month later. I was able to keep my original couch during the 8 week delivery window, they just asked I put a sheet over it to minimize the potential of any damage.
