First visit was amazing and I'm looking forward to returning! Checked out the bakery first and couldn't resist getting the Boston cream pie. Can't wait to try it! Stopped in on a Friday for lunch and figured I'd kick the tires and try the fish fry. The perch were fried perfectly. Also had the pork cutlet. Delicious 😋 Really like the sweet and sour cabbage with squash! Had a great table over looking the fox river. Looking forward to going back. The menu has something for everyone! Read More
Can't go wrong at this place. Great meals and even better bakery items for dessert... The cherry 🍒 squares and strawberry turnovers were the best.
This restaurant reminds me of Gray Brothers Cafeteria in Indianapolis, which sadly closed down in June 2025. The atmosphere and the pies are amazing.

Today I find myself at Harner's Bakery and Restaurant in North Aurora. I am stripping a dresser I salvaged from an apartment complex trash. It turns out this is a chifferobe. It was a children's piece that has a large decal shadowing on the front wardrobe door. I have been researching how to minimize the shadowing of this large front panel. It turns out, I will need a five gallon bucket for fresh cleaning water. I think of Harner's. They sell plastic pickle buckets and other large plastic food buckets for $2.50. The thought of grabbing a 1/2 price day old bakery product is further incentive. Too late. All the day old 1/2 price bakery items have been sold. Harners started out as a coffee and donut shop in Aurora in the middle of the 20th Century. It grew into this incredible bakery and restaurant. It has changed locations over the years. They are still serving up donuts and coffee at their West Galena location in Aurora. The North Aurora location on the Fox River is scenic and picturesq Read More

Breakfast was great. Nothing amazing but all around good. We ate at the counter so we didn't have to wait. They have tables that are looking outside by the river or creek. Donuts were amazing but expensive. I think we paid like $22 for what you see but worth it I ordered the Breakfast with raisin toast and took the bread home. We split each piece in half and shared so we had like 4 pieces of raisin bread. Gonna be back for sure Read More

Fries were nice and hot. nice to have the bakery. Bought cookies to take home. CFS sandwich was good but disappointed that it wasn’t homemade. Bought smiley heart cookies to bring home thought they were a sugar cookie. Disappointed they had nutmeg in them. They were ok but not what I was expecting. Maybe have signage on the items. Never assume the customer knows.. Read More

If a classic diner feel is what you are after then you'll be happy here. All the typical comfort foods are on the menu and the food is delicious. After you've eaten, you'll want to step into the bakery and pick up a pie or a pastry. The choice of baked goods is overwhelming here and the prices are a good value. The pastries get bought up fast though so don't delay. Read More

This was my first time eating here. The fox river bike trail is right behind this place and I came to go bikeing, however when I got out of the car to unload the bike I was drawn in by the smell of food. It is a combination bakery/restaurant offering tons of savory and sweet treats in yhe bakery section, and an expansive breakfast/lunch menu. Prices are just below awerage for typical breakfast places, and the portions are generous. Pancakes are literally the size of a small dinner plate, and the french toast I ordered was so thick, I could only finish 2 1/4 of the 3. The atmosphere is cozy, not overly loud with what seems to be a lot of regulars that come in. The location is right on the fox river with quick access to the trails. The restrooms were spacious and spotless. I would recommend, and will go back on my next trip down the trails. Read More
