The wind is no joke especially on a 20c December day like we had. For toddlers and babies i recommend the middle row (protected from any flying bugs and plant bits, but not too close to the loud motor), and bringing your own earmuffs since the ones provided don’t stay on small heads too well. Our captain, Christy, was incredibly informative and made sure we had the best experience possible. She took us to see several alligators and shared fascinating insights about the local wildlife. One highlight was our visit to the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam on the Caloosahatchee River. Christy provided interesting facts about how the lock and dam operate, explaining its significance and function in the area. The hour-long tour was both educational and exhilarating. After the ride, she helped us capture some beautiful pictures of the alligators and the stunning Purple Gallinule. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail truly made our outing special. We saw gators and other wildlife, and the airboat guide was informative and gave us plenty of time to slow down, sightsee, and take photos along the way. Before the ride, there are several areas to check out while you wait. You can see baby gators, walk through a butterfly area where you can feed them, and take advantage of a few photo op spots. It made the time before the tour feel like part of the experience. Captain Brooke was so knowledgeable about the various species on the water, and always let us know when a species had been threatened but was now rebounding.
