From time to time, I like to test how I’m treated in a store when I don’t walk in with obvious status symbols like jewelry or expensive handbags — but instead just as a simple tourist.
Today, on December 30th at around 2:00 p.m., I walked into the Tiffany 5th Avenue store.
There were many people inside, and many sales associates walking around with rather empty expressions, clearly guided by appearances.
Then one sales associate looked at me — Rokshana Miah.
She smiled, came over to me and my daughters, and asked whether she could help us. I decided to test her. I told her I wanted to buy each of my daughters a small keepsake, something in the range of $200–$300 per daughter.
I was curious to see how she would react, since she might earn more commission with another customer.
To my surprise, she was incredibly friendly, warm, and attentive. She didn’t try to sell the most expensive jewelry. Instead, she wanted every customer — no matter who they were — to experience that special Ti
