I’ve had the pleasure of working with both Kat and Jo for my piercings, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Jo did my earlobe and helix piercings and was nothing short of fantastic. Jo is incredibly cool, calm, and professional. The kind of presence that immediately puts you at ease. What really stood out to me was the attention to detail with cleanliness and sanitation. Everything was explained clearly, thoroughly, and with care. Kat took the time to walk me through the healing process in depth, answering every question I had. On the tattoo side, Ollie is a true artist. They’ve done several pieces on my patchwork color sleeve, and the work is stunning. The color saturation is vibrant and consistent, and the attention to detail is next-level. You can tell Ollie takes immense pride in their craft. Even more impressive is how delicate and light-handed they are. It’s honestly the most comfortable tattoo experience I’ve ever had. The whole team at Hawthorn is amazing! Jo & Kat do wonderful piercings and are always very thorough in their explanations, including any possible risks that come along with it, and are always willing to help troubleshoot. They take the time to make sure the piercing look the best for your face. I've had all 6 of my piercings done by these two (and my wife has 9 done by them). Ollie has done all of my tattoos and has such a great appreciation for details and coloring, the pieces always turn out wonderfully and I couldn't be happier to have all of these awesome folks in one place! I typically don’t write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience at Hawthorn Body Art! The staff here are incredibly kind and supportive. Jamie did an amazing job on my tattoo, and Kat expertly handled my nose piercing, explaining each step of the process in detail. They both made sure to accommodate my schedule so I could get everything done before my flight back to Virginia. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tattoo or piercing! I’ve had two piercings done here and Kat & Joe bring the PERFECT calming vibe to the experience. They will talk you through every little thing and answer any question. I will never go to another piercer! Jo has given me a conch, nose, and a double helix piercing over the past decade and has been amazing every time. She’s extremely knowledgeable and makes sure you understand and are comfortable with what’s happening. I always recommend her to anyone looking for an experienced piercer! I chose a slightly expensive piece of jewelry, but you can definitely choose from more budget-friendly options (and also go higher end than what I picked too!) Absolutely recommend this place and these people for their friendliness, knowledge, and safe techniques. I will never go to another piercer! Interior of the shop and merch are absolutely gorgeous! All the employees were so kind and willing to help! My piercer, Kat, was out of this world! She gave me so much information i needed to know about my piercing and walked me through the entire process. Her vibe was immaculate and she made sure I was feeling 100% before I left. Nothing better than custom fit piercings by people who actually care about you. Replaced all my jewelry with plastic holders for my procedure then got me fitted with new stuff after so so so stoked. I got a back piece I am in love with from Olivia, she truly brought my vision to life! And I’ve gotten multiple piercings with Jo and she always makes me feel comfortable and that my piercings will work with my anatomy. This whole experience was amazing. Everything from the check-in when I arrived up through the actual piercing was absolutely wonderful. I booked online, Kat was my piercer. She made me feel so comfortable the entire time. I'm not a big fan of needles so I don't seek out piercings often, but I wanted to get my ears pierced. Kat went over the process, aftercare, and answered all my questions. She explained everything she was doing and just made the whole session very relaxing. Everything was clean and sterile. I went in today for a consult and immediately knew I’d love the place. The vibes are great, Kat took such good care of me and we had many laughs during my time there. She made me feel so comfortable and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand and she answered all my questions. She asked for consent at every step and made me feel so safe. I didn’t wind up getting the piercing I intended to (after an in depth anatomy discussion/explanation) but was able to get one I’ve wanted for a while and update jewelry in another. I cannot say enough about Tempest Piercing! The shop itself is so warm and inviting, so great vibes right when you walk in the door. It was my first time in a while getting a piercing, and the staff was wonderful. They walked through realistic expectations of placement, healing, and really took into account my daily life to fit me with the jewelry and piercings that would work best for me. Jo took their time marking my ears before piercing, and during the actual process they spoke words of affirmation and encouragement. Honestly, I didn’t feel anything and it took maybe 20min tops from walking in to leaving. They made sure I was comfortable before getting off the table. I left the shop with some saline (extra 10$) and a goodie bag with after care instructions and gummy bears! I cannot wait for my ears to heal so I can go back for more. I’ll be recommending them to everyone. Oh, and they give back to local charities, and put a beautiful flyer in the goodie bag. Small businesses supporti I cannot say enough about Tempest Piercing!
