About Second Servings of Houston
Second Servings is a perishable food rescue organization, which is different from a food pantry. We provide underserved populations with convenient, cost-free access to nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste. We pick up unsold and unserved food from over 400 food businesses, and deliver it the same day, to 150 nonprofit partners, including pantries, shelters, affordable housing, community centers, soup kitchens and others. Food donors can benefit in significant ways, and are protected from liability by law. Our food safety-certified staff drivers operate 7 days a week in refrigerated vans. Food rescue also fights climate change by reducing the potent methane that decomposing food emits at the landfill. Everyone wins!

What an honor it was volunteering with Second Servings as second seat today. We rescued almost 3,000 lbs. of food that would have otherwise been thrown in the garbage. Thank you Andi & John at Second Servings for making us feel so welcomed & needed!

We are a logistics company and had a truck deliver a few miles from Second Serving's office location. We called the office thinking we could deliver some overage turkey products there, and Max informed us they don't directly store products but he could probably help me find a place. Max proceeded to line up a donation within minutes to a nearby food bank. These people are clearly all about helping which is rare to find these days. God Bless

This does seem to be one of the best organizations for getting surplus food to those that need it. On the day that I volunteered a lot of food was delivered to the local Star of Hope building, one of my favorite charities who provide shelter and sustenance to those abandoned by society. The driver I helped was very friendly and helpful, and all Second Servings delivery vans are spotlessly clean and in tip top mechanical condition.
