Great experience all around and I highly recommend Nova Driving School! I am nearly 50 and never had a driver’s license. I opted for the Ultimate Beginner’s package of 12 hrs because I had very little driving experience prior. I added another four hour package to help boost my confidence behind the wheel as I was a bit anxious with sweaty palms and everything! I took all my lessons with Jamie, who I cannot recommend enough. He has a great balance of instruction, insights, quizzing and visual aides, along with a dash of much appreciated humor. Once we determined I was prepared to take the road test, we practiced the route and Jamie instructed me on the potential pitfalls with exceptional expertise. Nova scheduled the road test for me and it was nearly identical to what Jamie prepared me for. I’m thrilled to finally have my license! Jamie’s words regarding safe driving will ring in my ears for a long time and I feel comfortable being behind the wheel.

Martha did such an incredible job on being my instructor, helping me with parking,lane switching, three point turns, three way stops, how to turn better she taught me a lot to help me pass my road test and I did first try because of martha. Anyone who driving for the first time I highly recommend martha to be your instructor all the way through, she’s teaches you a lot she’s kind and patient.

Just took my driving test for the first time and passed! I opted to use Nova’s car during the exam and they set up the appointment with the DMV which took a lot of stress off me so I could solely focus on my driving skills. Martha was my instructor and she was amazing! She did a really good job at critiquing my driving, in a kind manner, as well as thoroughly explaining how I can improve. She noticed that my turns and breaking needed some work, then spent time really helping me fix those issues. I could tell she really cared and wanted to see me succeed. I would definitely recommend her and the driving school!

Frank Valencia has been teaching driving for 40 years and is as patient as they come. He was gentle and made lessons very easy. I paid $400 for 4 hours of private instructions. It feels expensive but you get the value out of it. I think after 6 hours of lessons I'll be totally comfortable. I took my first sets of 2 hour lessons one year apart. 4 hours might have even been enough if I had done them in succession. I was learning to drive a manual and he would remind me to "clutch and break" every time I needed it. We learned how to downshift, up shift, and stop in neutral. We started in a parking lot and finished driving around on the streets! He also taught gear shifting with mph vs ram. 1st gear 10mph, 2 gear 20 mph, 3rd gear 30 mph. I recommend this location first because of Frank, but also because Evanston has less traffic than the Bucktown location. If I screwed up on the roads, he remained calm and walked me through it. I needed a car for my drivers road test and booked with Nova within a few days notice. My instructor was Martha. Martha was very patient on a waiting for me to arrive on rainy morning at 7AM. She made sure my driver test appointment was confirmed, insurance card was in my hand and that I had all of my paper work needed for the test. Also not only was Martha very serious in making sure I followed the rules of the road in order to pass my test, but she was very clear on what I need to do correctly in order to pass the test, which I did with no problem.
