Book stores like this one are gems in our towns. This part of Larchmont is so Americana that it actually looks like a movie set. With very few big names on the street it feels like America back in the 50s. The bookstore does not disappoint. Each time I've looked for something that is out of the ordinary I find it here. If you're in the area stop by and browse the wonderful selection of books that the store carries. The staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable.

Chevalier’s has everything I look for from an independent bookstore: friendly and knowledgeable staff; a warm, inviting space to browse; an expansive yet curated selection that has almost everything I know I’m looking for as well as serendipitous finds I didn’t know I was looking for; and the best research and ordering process the one or two times something wasn’t available.

This place makes it REALLY hard to leave without buying at least one book. I love how they curate and display the books and I always find something I love in the Staff Picks section. I really appreciate how the selection doesn't appeal to just one kind of person. They have a really varied customer base but the store doesn't feel generic. The new location is so nice and open but still feels intimate and special. Plus, I love how each employee is so eager to help you and even if they don't have what you're looking for, they are quick to not only offer to order it for you but to suggest other things you may like that are similar. I've been turned onto many books that I never would have given through to if it wasn't for their helpful staff!

This is by far my favorite bookstore in Los Angeles and our go to for any book that they can order for us. No more Amazon! We always love dropping in here and talking to the staff about what their favorite new reads are, and they also give great advice when looking for something more specific. Support them!

Ordered a signed copy of Patrick Stewart's memoir (Making It So), received it ahead of schedule and am happy with the purchase.

I've never visited in person, but I did have an excellent experience with Chevalier's Books. I called to order a specific signed book and the gentlemen who assisted me was very friendly and accommodating. He helped me place an order and the books I ordered were shipped promptly. Overall, I would highly recommend Chevalier's Books and I hope I can make an in person visit one day in the future.

Like this place. Good selection and organization. I called and staff held my book right away, and I picked it up for 18 bucks 10 minutes later. Very well run

Awesome bookstore with a great staff who recommend awesome books. Right next to village pizza which is exceptionally good, go here post-pizza for an awesome two-header. Really solid selection here across genres, including some weirder stuff. Great vibes. Definitely check out the staff recommendations for books, and chat them up about what they're reading (if they seem like they feel like talking) they know a lot!!!

My husband and I love cute bookshops. I was able to find the cook book I wanted with out having to go to B&N to get it. I would much rather spend my money and shop small.

True indie local bookstore serving the community and providing exemplary customer service with an excellent selection to peruse and take in. Welcoming atmosphere and staff that goes above and beyond to fulfill one’s book quest.I stopped by the store approximately 1-2 weeks before the September 3, 2023 release date of “Time Without Keys” Ida Vitale distributed by New Directions. A pleasurable exchange and book conversation with Quinn and Emma who placed the order and upon my walk today stopped in to pleasantly find out it was there in a punctual manner. Their team work and friendly demeanor exceptional. I call him The Mighty Quinn as a reference to the song and the fact we both prefer the Manfred Mann cover! Good to have some lighthearted humor in the mix.If you look at the photos closely there is one with the bag. Pay attention to the store stamp. Quinn stamps each bag one by one!!! This is how much heart and love goes into the endeavor. Support this store and share with others who lov

Chevalier's Books is a true haven for book lovers. A store with a rich history and a warm atmosphere, where every corner is filled with literary magic. The selection is incredibly diverse: from classics to contemporary bestsellers, there's something for everyone. The staff here are true experts, always ready to recommend something special. Chevalier's Books is a place you’ll want to return to again and again to find your next favorite book.

A beautiful bookshop with an amazing selection of books. You can spend hours here discovering new books. Just buy some too and support these amazing local places. I really enjoyed my time there and I could’ve stayed for hours taking in all the gems. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area.

This is a bookstore but also a community, they leave a warm feeling in my heart whenever I go. They make space on local authors and writers who are POC and LGBT. They build their collections to reflect their readers

Nice relaxing book store with friendly staff. The store is mainly for young adults and children; the child's book nook is so cute and comfortable! I'd strongly recommend taking a daughter, son, niece, or nephew to have them in an environment that's fun surrounded by books. Likewise to many bookstores, the philosophy section isn't too huge and is mixed in with spirituality books. I think this is a great bookstore if you're an individual who's more politically left leaning. They have quite a bit of books that are from the standpoint of social justice. They are also a gift store of the sorts selling pins, cards, and the like.On top of it, the different stores surrounding the bookstore are great. There's a pizza shop next door as well as a coffee shop across the street that has alot of outlets and quite a bit of seating. So once you're done picking up a book, you can head on over caffeinate up and breeze through the book You picked out.

It’s giving “The Shop Around the Corner” except in the alternate timeline where Meg Ryan doesn’t close her store due to big bad Fox and instead moves to LA.I’ll write a better review later but for now I will just say…best bookstore in LA!!! And dare I say, best bookstore in the universe? Because why would you go anywhere else?!At Chevalier’s you can:Attend book triviaSupport your local community through a ginormous neighborhood book clubSee famous peopleSee famous dogsSee non-famous dogsTalk to cool humans that work hereGet inspired by an awesome window displayListen to people say “thanks for calling Che-vaw-lee-ay’s books” (I promise you it’s very satisfying)

Love this bookstore!! It’s very well curated. It’s not a huge store, but it doesn’t need to be. Every section features highlights and bookseller recommendations that are spot on - both trendy books and hidden gems. Friendly staff and they have a bookstore stamp too!
