I'm always torn between gatekeeping and telling everyone I've ever met about Sideshow. Tony, the proprietor, is so friendly, so warm, and so knowledgable. He runs the kind of business that reminds you to value your community and invest in it. He has a truly remarkable collection powered by sheer love for literacy and reading and conserving the past, it's magical inside his shop, he hosts live music and cinema events, he makes patrons little cups of espresso served with Girl Scout cookies, he remembers my name, my mother's name, he asks after your friends, your hobbies-- 10/10. Check it out or miss out on one of Los Angeles' best bookstores.

This is an incredible place to wander. I came in with an idea of what I was looking for, but was instead met with a book that I didn’t know that I needed. But if you are looking for something specific, the owner will diligently hunt it down or nudge you in the right direction. He offered complimentary espresso at the door which made the whole experience that much more special. This is definitely a neighborhood gem and I will be back again and again.

super lovely hidden gem! I called ahead of time to see if they carried a book and the owner put it aside for me. The inside of the store is like a magical little wonderland filled with great quality used books, rare finds, records, posters, and trinkets that give the place so much personality and character. The owner is really down to earth and even offered me an espresso he was making. Wish I’d known about it sooner, and will definitely be making it a regular stop!

A magical little oasis. You’re greeted by a friendly host who offers complimentary espresso while you browse a beautiful selection of rare books and printed materials. Prices are very reasonable. A true hidden gem.
