Ed’s presence, keen eye, and skill at design made our home renovation everything we had hoped for. The house is truly magical --we love it so much. The design has yielded more compliments than we can count and it's such a pleasure to live in this space. It's really worked out to be everything we had imagined. Ed was so wonderful to work with as well - which made all the difference!

My “dream beach house “ is the result of Ed’s vision. It would have never happened without his ability to share his vision with me and the builder. There have been many surprises along the way, as there always are with any building project. My favorite was waking up the first morning in my new home to a room full of pink and gold light filtering in through the beautiful windows in the stair tower. I had not been there at sunrise before. Every detail had been carefully considered in the design, especially the light. Ed was the negotiator with the builder. When the builder would say no, Ed would say, here’s how we can do this. And it would happen. Ed was patient and helpful and so knowledgeable as choices were made for materials. It always felt like a collaborative process. I am thrilled with the end result. And he shepherded the plans through the Historical Commission and the L&I permit process, and then he lined up Burgese Builders and periodically reviewed their work onsite - which was very well done, including beautiful carpentry work, and which stayed within their original price. We couldn't be happier with Ed Barnhart. He listened, suggested wonderful variations on our original ideas, and produced great plans for our solarium, deck, mini-kitchen, elevator and stairway addition to our 1850 townhouse.
