Position Overview Fully remote, flexible contract role for a Principal Python Engineer at Alignerr Opportunity to design and build data pipelines, annotation tooling, and evaluation systems for AI labs Job Overview Design, build, and optimize high-performance Python systems for AI data pipelines Develop full-stack tooling and backend services for data annotation and validation Collaborate with data, research, and engineering teams to support model training pipelines Key Responsibilities Improve reliability, performance, and safety of existing Python codebases Identify bottlenecks and implement scalable fixes in data and system behavior Participate in design reviews to drive architectural decisions Who You Are Native or fluent English speaker with strong communication skills 5+ years of Python experience in large-scale infrastructure or platform engineering Deep expertise in distributed computing systems and asynchronous concurrency patterns Solid understanding of Python internals and performance optimization Full-stack development experience with systems programming background Able to drive technical strategy and communicate architectural decisions clearly Available to commit 20--40 hours per week Preferred Qualifications Experience with data annotation, quality pipelines, or AI evaluation systems Familiarity with ML/AI workflows and model training infrastructure Background in building distributed systems or developer tooling Experience working with AI or research engineering teams What We Offer Work on real production systems with leading AI research labs Fully remote and flexible work environment Freelance autonomy with high-impact, technically demanding work Influence the training and evaluation of next-generation AI models Potential for ongoing work and contract extension Benefits Hourly contract position Location: Remote Commitment: 20--40 hours/week About Alignerr Alignerr is the organization offering this opportunity
